Asiática novinha sendo esculachada no anus - Piecing It Together

For more than 100 years paleontologists recognized the T. rex as the only formal member of the genus Tyrannosaurus. But a fierce debate emerged in the past few decades over whether smaller fossils with similar features were merely T. rex juveniles or an entirely different taxon. The mystery may be solved. A new study, published in the journal Nature has determined that a skull, which was thought to have been a juvenile T. rex is, in fact, a separate species called Nanotyrannus lancensis. The study, which also considered similar fossils recovered in 2006, also describes a second species, Nanotyrannus lethaeus.

Padian theorizes that the Tyrannosaurus rex evolved to have shorter arms to avoid clashes with other T. rex. Grand Egyptian Museum opens

The Grand Egyptian Museum, the world’s largest archaeological museum, opened this weekend. Construction on the 120-acre (50-hectare) plot of land began in 2005, but the project encountered a number of delays, including a three-year halt due to political unrest during the Arab Spring and the resignation of Pres. Hosni Mubarak—who first announced plans for the museum in 1992. The museum houses artifacts from thousands of years of Egyptian history, spanning from the predynastic period to the Greco-Roman era (c. 3100 BCE to 400 CE). The centerpiece of the museum’s collection is the cache of items discovered in the tomb of King Tutankhamun.

An investment for those flush with cash

Debating whether your next $10 million alternative investment should be in art or gold? You can now dabble in both: Sotheby’s is auctioning off an 18-karat gold toilet, weighing more than 220 pounds (100 kg) and valued at roughly $10 million at the current gold price of about $4,000 per 24-karat ounce—quadruple what it was in 2016, when artist Maurizio Cattelan cast it (pictured below). And if your hoard is in Bitcoin, fear not: Sotheby’s will accept cryptocurrency payments.
